My Xbox broke last Friday, the Disc Drive went Kaput so I was left this weekend without any means of entertainment. Luckily, my buddy Jericho was able to lend me his spare Xbox last night.
I left the apartment around 5:30 and had to take the Green Line over 2 stops so I could switch to the Red Line and head up North. About an hour later, I’m pulling up to Jericho’s stop, walk two blocks and I’m at his apartment. After a few minutes I started the trek back and didn’t get back to my stop until about 8:00. I got the box up and running quickly and now I’m able to be back online, but it’s only a temp fix.
Hopefully I can get my box fixed quickly and be back on my own feet soon.

So it’s close to Thanksgiving and I head home in just over a week. I haven’t seen my family or friends in almost 4 months. Crazy how time flies.
I can’t wait to head home and see all of the familiar faces.
School is going well, I’m not gonna be on the Dean’s List but I should be passing all of my classes just fine. I have a job interview lined up on Monday, with a few other potentials right now.
More later…

Sometimes you have to take all rational thought and throw it out the window.
Now you can make it work.

Isn’t that amazing? Someone who was portrayed in World Trade Center realized he was a part of a movie when he saw the preview from his couch.
He could have grabbed some attention 4 years ago when it all happened. Instead, he showed up and volunteered 2 and a half weeks of his time helping out at Ground Zero, and simply walked away.
He could have just stayed home, but instead he chose to do something great and he saved lives.
Amazing.

With all of the craziness going on this week and the increased wait at the security gates, I thought I’d put down a few thoughts on the matter.
First off, suicide bombers are scary, how do stop someone who wants to die?
Secondly, with the increased wait at the lines at the security gate and it’s only going to get more and more strict, we’re going to need a way to make the line move faster and more efficiently. Currently the Memphis International Airport has like 2 metal detectors. That’s not enough, and we’re a small airport. We’re going to have to redesign security checkpoints and have between 5-10 metal detectors where there is currently 2. We’re going to have to hire more security personnell and pay more money to them and give them more training.
With the current system, it’s ridiculous. I don’t mind taking off my shoes, being patted down, and having my carry-on x-rayed. I don’t mind putting all liquids into my suitcase and checking it. What I do mind is the 5 hour wait to go through the checkpoint.
There’s a bottleneck in the airports, and because of this bottleneck I think that sometimes security can get relaxed due to the fact they have a line stretching the length of 6 football fields waiting on 4 underpaid security guards to check EVERYONE who’s flying that day.
It used to work when you just walked through a metal detector and had your bag scanned. It’s not going to work anymore. Let’s get some engineers in there and redesign our terminals.

So I’m single again, not gonna really get into the details of how or why, but I am and it sucks.
To be completely honest with ya, I don’t feel as bad as I should about it and that scares me. I’ve been pretty numb about it. Maybe it’ll hit me hard later, I could be in shock right now.
Maybe I’m older now and I just don’t get the 16 year old heartache that I’m accustomed to. That scares me. When I was 16, I was naive but I lived life to the fullest. I didn’t hold back, I said what was on my mind and I let people know how I felt. I wore my heart on my sleeve and sometimes [more often then not] it would get broken. Those were the days of passion and for the lack of a shorter word, exuberance.
Am I not giving my all in my relationships anymore? I thought that I was, but I haven’t broken down or anything yet.
Honestly, the break up was one of the best break ups [oxymoron?] I’ve had. No harsh words were said, well besides the obvious beginning of the conversation. It was inevitable [or as Kim Jong Ill would say via Team America, "It was inedibable"]
Thinking about it, I think the reason that I’m doing ok and that the break up wasn’t an angry one was because we both put it all out on the table. We were honest with each other, caring, and realized that it was either now or later when it would hurt more.
Nothing I can say can really express what I’m feeling now, maybe I need to take a writing class. Ehh I dunno, just had to write something down.

“When is that from? Like, the 80’s?
Actually I think that’s from the 70’s.”
That comes from Rocky Balboa, the story of a philadelphia boxer who… Oh come on, you know who Rocky is. Rocky Balboa, is the 6th [and final?] installment of the Rocky franchise. It’s the story of Rocky coming out of retirement to face the current world-heavyweight champion although he’s 60. It’s sparked by a simulation [see: video game] that occurs on ESPN putting classic fighters against current greats. I cannot wait until December to see this movie. The Rocky movies [sans #5] are great, they give hope, they have a cool training montage, and most of all, it’s a back to the basics movie. Rocky is a simple guy, who likes to box. He’s older now, and personally I think he’s going to lose. They’re gonna close the movies up now, because if he wins there may be another one. Sly Stone knows better, he’s actually a great movie writer[he wrote the original Rocky]. Rocky is going to put a hell of a fight, because Rocky can take a beating. That was one thing he always excelled at. I don’t think that these two are going to fight twice like in some other movies where Rocky loses #1 and then wins #2.
My take on the fight. Rocky goes in nervous, tons of anticipation, he lands a couple of decent blows nothing to turn the tide of the fight, then I think it’s gonna turn on him and quick. He’s gonna get knocked down real early on, and when he gets back up, he’s gonna take more of a pounding. However, later in the match when the other guy is tired, Rocky is going to start to shine, showing some of his old glory and skills. Rocky isn’t going to KO this guy, but it’s gonna be dramatic, it’s going to go down to the wire. The ending could one of many things, but I think that Rocky may look like he’s gonna win the fight and then it’s going to go down to the judge’s decision and he’ll lose by a single point. Deep down though, I think Rocky is gonna take a nasty blow at the end of the match that KO’s him, he could possibly die as so to end the series. Regardless, he’s getting a standing O at the end of the night.
I’m all pumped up now, damnit.
P.S. Also a while back, heard some rumors about a new Back to the Future movie with Michael J Fox in the Doc role with a new kid doing the majority of the work.

In my efforts to think of another name for a clothing company, I’ve stumbled across a lot of cool words… at the time. You know, that the next day they don’t sound nearly as cool as they did at first. I was going to do “The Academy” Clothing company. Cardwell Clothing. and several others that weren’t nearly as cool. Skallywag has a cool ring to it, I’ll always love Skallywag, I still want to bring it back… I’m close, I just don’t have the proper avenues to sell them right now so it would be a lot of money that would be sitting in a bin in my room. We’ll see, one day.
One cool word that I just thought of, not necessarily for a clothing company, is Galileo. How pimp is that? I know, tons.
I figured I might as well write it down so I don’t forget it later. Some words just look cool.
I saw Stomp tonight, it was pretty cool. I would definately recommend it to anyone who has a chance. It’s perfect for a date, it’s entertaining, funny, and really neat. Plus when they come to Memphis it’s at the Orpheum which is this older theater that looks really elegant and cool. Definately a good thing. I guess I’m off to bed, or something… who knows?

Thats a good song. Timeless even.
Anywho, onto the weekend update. Friday Sara and I went to Crescent City [it's a restaruant not a real city] and split a huge plate of cheese fries and some awesome beignets. New Orleans style. The vanilla was better than the chocolate.
Saturday I got to hang out and be lazy all day then we went to the Avenue and I got some board shorts for next week's beach trip.
Today is lazy Sunday… of course most days for me are lazy. Shane's on his way over, I just thought I'd start writing some blog posts [even the crappy ones] so I can get back into the habit of doing it. I need to do it more often. That's all for today.
